Our History

Founded in 2005, Sapien evolved from a partnership with UK-based HRM Software Ltd., a developer of strategic HR software systems, and the collaboration between two industry veterans whose complementary talents and experience combined to create a “one-system/one-world” on-demand HRMS/HRIS solution for midsize multinational companies.

Sapien grew from recognizing the limitations of the past and perfecting on-demand HR solutions to serve the needs of the future with unparalleled world-class capabilities. Speed, agility, functionality, intuitiveness, configurability, responsiveness, language and currency are all part of the evolution.

Co-founders Ryan Tweedie (former CEO of HRSoft) and David Rossi (former head of Digital Office Systems and Insight Consulting), built Sapien on the SaaS platform, combining comprehensive HR management and planning functionality with the latest Internet and workflow technologies to help transform the way companies manage their HR functions. In 2007, Sapien became the first HR software solution provider to create a Human Resource Augmentation (HRA) capability, effectively streamlining HR processes, reducing time and paperwork, and maximizing efficiency for Sapien clients.

Early clients, including Capital One and Verizon Wireless, have been joined by a steady stream of companies that recognize the value of robust, global HRMS with integrated talent management modules that grow with them as their needs evolve.
